The most effective way to make your voice heard is to call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard (202) 225-3121 and ask to speak with your elected representative (House or Senate) by name. If you can't make a phone call, write a letter. Least effective are E-mail messages - they are junk mail in congressional offices -- but as a last resort, use Write Your Representative or Your Senators (above) to send a message by going to a member's individual website.

To target your communication most effectively, note any special instructions contained in the information we provide on individual pieces of Legislation We Support. You may be asked to contact a committee chairman, or member of the leadership.

In every case, we urge you to call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard and ask for the representative or senator you want to speak to by name - let them know what you think!
