H.R. 190 -
Social Security for American Citizens Only Act

Should illegal aliens receive Social Security benefits? Yes, according to many politicians, bureaucrats and special interest groups in Washington. But we say no.

On January 4, 2007, Rep. Ron Paul reintroduced the Social Security for Americans Only Act, (H.R. 190) along with Representatives Walter Jones, Zack Wamp, Jeff Miller, Thaddeus G. McCotter, Roscoe Bartlett, John J. Duncan, Jr., and Ginny Brown-Waite.

On originally introduction of this legislation in the 109th Congress, Congressman Paul wrote, "Please protect Social Security from being transformed into a system of global welfare by cosponsoring my Social Security for American Citizens Only Act. ...[it] forbids the federal government from providing Social Security benefits to non-citizens. It also ends the practice of totalization, which allows certain non-citizens to collect Social Security even though they have not worked in America (and thus not paid payroll taxes) as long as long as American citizens must in order to qualify for Social Security!"
-- Congressman Ron Paul, Feb. 16, 2005

"If top officials at the State Department and Social Security Administration have their way, up to $345 billion -- or more -- could be siphoned from the Social Security 'trust fund' over the next couple of decades, mostly to pay benefits to Mexican citizens who worked illegally in the United States."
-- Joel Mowbray, The Washington Times, Jan. 9, 2003

"Mexican President Vicente Fox has been pushing President Bush to sign a Social Security agreement with Mexico as something of a consolation prize to make up for Bush's failure to pursue promised immigration reform, according to Latino lobbyists close to the Fox administration."
-- Jonathan Weisman, The Washington Post, Dec. 19, 2003

"...U.S. taxpayers should say 'no' to Mexico's attempt to shift its social welfare burdens onto the U.S. taxpayer." -- Phyllis Schlafly, Jan. 15, 2003
