Update:  Your money to Enron & China

2:10 p.m. ET, May 1, 2002

The vote to reauthorize US taxpayer money for Export-Import Bank was
unexpectedly and suddenly held just a few minutes ago.  The vote was
originally scheduled to be held around 5:00 p.m. ET today.  Not only was the
vote held surprisingly much earlier, but it was conducted as a voice vote
and closed before a request for a recorded vote could be made.

The measure to reauthorize US taxpayer money for Export-Import Bank passed.
Because it was a voice vote, we'll never know who voted for or against it.

Thank you to the several thousands of you who sent a message to Congress
urging them to stop giving our money to companies such as Enron and to
communist China by way of the Export-Import Bank.  I suspect your attention
and quick action today prompted the vote to be unexpectedly moved up and
quickly completed by voice only.
